It's a new year & I don't care.
Seriously. Last year was a tough year for lots of people. It was a great year for lots of people. The same will be said about this year.
2018 brought plenty of struggles our way. It also was a time of celebration. I released Balancing Act, EP 1: Bar Crawling. I had 3 top 30 indie singles. I topped the Peak Sounds Colorado Countdown 2 times. I got to make amazing music with the likes of Jeremy Facknitz & Alyssa Stoner. I recorded my album that's coming out in 2019. On balance, it was a good year.
But the number of the year isn't the point. 2019 might be "bigger" for me. I'm putting out a new record in February. I'm working with the Zak Sloan band to start churning out more & more music on a consistent basis. I'm already booked to play some amazing venues. 2019 might be tougher too. It's hard to say.
We never know what life will throw our way. So I don't make resolutions. I don't celebrate New Year's Day. I just want to enjoy my life. I want to keep making music. I hope I'll make more music more consistently as I move forward.
Speaking of new music...
Putting out Balancing Act has been an incredibly exciting journey for me. It's amazing to think I have this outlet to make music I love & get to share my story with anyone who will listen.
EP 2: ...Your Honor picks up where EP 1: Bar Crawling left off. The album opens with my most angst filled song I've ever released & resolves with the song I wrote with my wife about leaving law to make music. As proud as I am of it, I'm ready to move to the next project. Just you wait, it'll be something. I'll keep ya posted.
You've heard me talk about Alyssa before.
If you have Bar Crawling, you've heard her before on my song the Date was Bad (but the Night was Good).
I met Alyssa at a songwriter showcase when she was about 14 or so. I struck up a friendship with her & her family & we recorded a song of hers called Peachy. From there we set out to make her debut record, Ella Luna. She's one of the most talented singers & songwriters I've ever met. She's also hilarious.
Get on board with her music now. You'll be able to say, "I liked Alyssa before she was famous."
That's it for now.
I wish you all happiness, no matter what year it is.
