Oh my my, oh hell yes....
We did something great.
The best birthday present ever.
I turned 35 on February 16. A few days later my song Porcelain went from #17 to #3 on the the Music Mafia Radio top 30 Indie Chart. It was a big day for me. My music had never charted anywhere & to have a top 5 song was wild. When the results were released I was thrilled to have a #3 song, but I also felt that we could get it to #1. So I asked you all for a favor & you delivered.
10 days after my birthday I was listening to the radio...
When the top 10 countdown started I was excited but also a little worried. What if the song had fallen off the charts completely? There's no shame in having a #3 single, but it would be embarrassing if I had publicly asked for a big push behind my song only to have it disappear entirely.
But that didn't happen.
Earlier the DJ had said that there was a new #1 this week, but I was trying not to get my hopes up. I wanted to be grateful for Porcelain doing as well as it did, even if I never hit a #1 spot. They played #5, not my song, #4 & #3, not me either. #2, not me. While the #2 song was playing I started getting a few texts from friends, family, & fans all of them asking "did we do it?" or congratulating me.
#1 came & yes, we did it. They played our song Porcelain & said that it won by 17 votes. 17. That's a slim margin. That means that every single vote mattered. Without every single one of you, this wouldn't have happened.
Thank you for voting every day. Thank you for supporting an indie musician like me. Thank you for giving me the best present ever.
This is your song as much as it is mine.
I wrote Porcelain, but without a friend telling me that they liked it, I would have never recorded it (thanks Christina). I recorded it & released it but without you all it would just be some song on the internet. Art without an audience can't make an impact. You all helped Porcelain become something very special to me.
Thank you -
